February 25th

Today is Tuesday believe it or not. It feels like a Monday and I don't know I can go to an actual "full" week of school that hasn't happened since before exams. But today we took lots and lots of note that I will try and put up tomorrow. I am super duper tired and need sleep. This is just one of those weeks.

P.S. Shout out to Andrew for doing a really well job teaching the class on Monday. The tootsie rolls were a nice touch. Mr. Schick take notes.

February 21st

Today I was the teacher and let me tell you it was really hard. I never want to be a teacher. EVER. we talked about Greece and they invented democracy. The Athenians loved to fight in wars. We used mine a mr. schicks notes and mine were pretty great if I do say so myself. The greeks were pretty good but I cant leave my Romans :). The greeks were really artistic unlike me I cant draw a straight line with a ruler. Also their lives circled around strength and courage, comradeship and loyalty, contest and battle.

 A. Name and describe three technological innovations or inventions of the ancient Egyptians.

Three technological innovations or inventions in ancient Egypt were irrigation, pyramids, and sailboats. The ancient Egyptians created irrigation by the waters from the flood. They would make the waters go through tubes to crop fields farther away. Next were the pyramids, they made pyramids because of places to worship gods and put pharaohs and royalty to rest. Also there were sailboats, they made sailboats for travel on the Nile to expand trading.

B.Describe three important features of the Egyptian pyramids.

Three important features of the pyramids were the long trap hallways, one hidden door, and their uniqueness. The long trap hallways kept the burglars from finding the tomb and treasures. Also the one hidden door kept the burglars out and only a hand-full of people who made the pyramid knew where the door was. Each pyramid was different, none were the same. These pyramids were built hundreds of years apart so they wouldn't be the same because the people who built the one before were dead.

Essay Questions

A. Describe the Social Hierarchy of ancient Egyptians

The Ancient Egyptians had a system labeling you social class by your job. There where 8 levels in this "social class pyramid." From the bottom up it went: Slaves-Servants, Farmers, Artisans, Merchants, Scribes, Soldiers, Government-Officials - Nobles - Priest, and then the Pharaoh. On the bottom of the pyramid was the slaves and servants. The slaves and servants help the upper class people with the household duties they didn't want to do. Such as raising children, cleaning, and cooking. Next were the Farmers, they grew all the food for the citizens of ancient Egypt. They grew things like: wheat, barley, lentils, and onions. Their growing benefited from the Nile River. Above them were the Artisans, who were what you could call the artist of the community. They carved statues and reliefs that portrayed military battles and the after life. Next were the merchants, they were barters. Merchants used the money/barter system to give or get goods.
The next people on the "Social Class Pyramid" were considered to be part of the "White Kilt Class." The people in the White Kilt Class were they people in the top of the social class. They were known to wear crisp white garments to show their specialty. Next up on the Social Class List were Scribes, the recorders and writers of ancient Egypt. The Scribes kept records, wrote and told stories, wrote poetry, describes anatomy, and medical treatments. Above them were the soldiers, they ones who fought in battles. They used wooden weapons with bronze tips and might ride a chariot. Next were the priest, physicians, engineers, and government officials. And on the top of the Social Class was the Pharaoh. The pharaoh had two titles, "Lord of the Two Lands" and "High Priest of Every Temple."

B. Discuss the importance of the Nile River in the lives of the Egyptians

The Nile River was a very important aspect in the ancient Egyptian's lives. They Egyptians probably wouldn't of survived without this river. Their whole vegetation surrounded around the river because of its rich soil. Every year in July the river floods the land, but when October comes around the river leaves rich soil that is fantastic for growing crops. The ancient Egyptians developed an idea to irrigate the crops. Today's current world wouldn't be the same without technical advances over 3,000 years ago.

February 11th

Today was quite the day to say the least. I was victimized in class. This kid who sits next to me, or used to anyway, was beyond annoying today. It all started when he started whistling saying "he had to or he would fail" like what? Then he was tapping his pencil and waving it around everywhere and no matter how hard I tired not to explode and just stop looking I couldn't. I knew that this kid was behind me waving and tapping this pencil that I had asked NICLEY numerous times to stop. He wouldn't and he kept going torturing me. So that's when I snapped, and I may have screamed a little. I couldn't help it he should have just stopped tapping the stupid pencil. Then as the screaming between me, the perfectly innocent victim. And the kid, who was the cause of this problem, Mr. Schick broke the desk. And its not even his desk. The drawer fell and everything went everywhere. While Mr. Schick was picking up the 153,976,689,689 erasers and rocks (yes I said rocks) he explained how this wasn't the first time he broke her desk. The first time he broke it he was trying to act out a scene from "The Dead Poet's Society" and the leg broke and the whole desk went down. lol. Then I explained how I have a bump on my ear which I believe could be cancerous but I have been told otherwise. And during this time I figured maybe i'll be a doctor one day so watch out civilians of any city in America because I don't know how long I would be a doctor before being sued. And I finally got moved to the back AWAY FROM THE KID and Kylie informed me that it could just be an impacted it (thanks google!) and now everything is good again :) so Mr. Schick I hope this makes up for all the times I only had about 25 words in my blog *cough* yesterday *cough*

February 8th

Do you know what' really sad? I came home with every intention to put my notes on the blog. But knowing my luck I couldn't because I left it at school. And no before you say to yourself  "everyone forgets their book every once and awhile." I have EVERY and I mean EVERY other book from my locker in my bookbag. Because my principle insisted we take them all home incase of a snow day on Monday. And yes I know snowdays are off days but because of Maryland's Bipolar weather were it could be sunny and 40 degrees one day and 12 degrees and snowing the next, we have used up ALL of our snowdays and have to make up some. And it has come to the point where we have to do work on snowdays just to keep up. And believe me when I say this is not the end of the snow because as im writing its snowing. Anyway here is my super long explanation as to why I didn't put my notes up :) hope you enjoyed :)

Land of the Pharaohs: Egypt

Neolithic age - 'new' stone age, marked by advanced tools and agriculture
Egyptian civilization grew up through a thin strip of fertile land where the Nile crosses the North African Desert, and in broader regions the delta.
Beyond these "two lands" of upper and lower Egypt was where the wealthy Africans and Asians lived.
In the Hymn to the Nile, a part talks about the patterns of the river.
The great sphinx- A famous monument which is also a burial site to royals
Hieroglyphs- the earliest Egyptian writing, in which pictures stood for whole words or separate sounds of words
Pyramid- A massive structure with sloping sides that met at apex, used as a royal tomb in ancient Egypt
A typical Egyptian pose was for the woman or queen to have their arm protectively wrapped around her husband. to signify marriage, status, upper-class women
